LSH Death by Flooding?

I've just recently started playing with LSH - been a great time.

I recently was returning from a patrol at high TC in the middle of the North Sea. Out of no where, I got the death by flooding message and my boat was done. What gives?

I don't think there was a collision - no ships were sighted. So my best guess is a mine - though it seemed like a fairly random area to find one. Does LSH feature extensive minefields?

I also was running at the surface in rough (but not horrible) weather. Can you flood via the top hatch?

Thanks!

Very likely a mine, which you probably detonated because high pitching in rough seas - you dove just deep enough.

Although I am not familiar with LSH as opposed to GWX gold with mods, but I suspect there were some minefields created by the modders as is in GWX.
As for the placement of the minefields, you have defensive minefileds around the E coast of Britain and near major convoy routes near to coastline (light blue color on map) where u-boats would most likely be lurking. Offensive minefields are laid near the enemy coast or most likely passage routes mad eby fast RN minelayers or destroyers and in by RAF. I guess you stumbled on one such type.I know there was a minefield laid north of the Netherlands, just as in real life.

P.S. I know this because I made a small 'mod' - a SH mission file where I tried to incorporate historical data on minefields with SH3 - I have to admit I once fell into a trap of my own making ( faliling memory;-)).

GWX has minefields. I found that out by going off course at Lorient. All hands lost.
