"I lost thirty pounds off my arse thanks to a pair of copper socks"

(Mrs F Trellis)

Does anyone have any personal experience of these sorts of thing (insoles and suchlike) and do they work?

Betonov 10-21-15 01:04 PM

I lost 30 pound of my arse by getting of my arse.

And I'd stack it to 50 pounds by now if I haven't gotten lazy. And ran out of my asthma medicine. And cought a cold. And if the weather wouldn't turn october.

If losing 30 pounds by wearing socks with copper works everyone would be doing it.

It dose work. You pay money for snake oil said money is removed from your wallet that money had weight upon removing it you did in fact lose weight. It really is true in the UK if you charged £30.00 then you would in fact lose thirty pounds.

Is there any reason to think that keeping a small amount of copper next to your skin would have any effect on your body?

Sailor Steve 10-21-15 09:19 PM

It can turn that patch of skin green. That's an effect. :D

Something to do with Nikola Tesla no doubt?

Stealhead has it exactly right. I'm familiar with all these kind of gadgets. There is no valid, independent study that can support the claims. Basically, they don't do anything. There could be a placebo effect, it works because you're convinced it works. I find it interesting that all these things also include instructions with them that tells you to do something that would give you the same result without the device.:hmmm:

I'll be 58 in January. I wear the same size cloths I wore in 1976.
I have a secret work out that I have proven works.
It's called work!
:haha:

I think the idea is that it helps people overcome pain in their joints, thus allowing them to exercise when this was difficult or impossible before. No I don't believe in "snake oil" remedies either, but this doesn't seem to be one of those.

I get plenty of exercise myself these days with a daily 5-mile cycle ride; I can never understand all the joggers I pass on these outings, pounding away the precious cartilage in their joints...

Wait until you slip off and hit the cross-bar. :wah:

After taking the inevitable lightning strike, you will be in no shape to worry about weight gain.

Mrs Emmery would need to be even more careful:

Isn't copper poisonous? That's why they've stopped using it in some countries as anti-fouling paint on the hulls of ships. So if that's the case, I can understand why it will help you lose weight.

But still it's been used in jewelry and water pipes for centuries. They say copper bracelets should help arthritis sufferers.

Very useful in the moonshine business, so I've heard:o
