Annoying Cookies Subsim and Android

I've been getting redirected to Uber and some other sights when navigating Subsim on my phone lately. It would seem to be from cookies being fed to my phone and it's only happening when I'm using Subsim. No viruses found.

Anybody else experiencing this in the past week?

Which parts of Subsim? Just the forums?
What browser are you using? I have never been redirected using chrome on my android. Can you describe what you mean by redirected to Uber?

Buddahaid 10-10-15 03:42 PM

Yes in the forums and using Chrome for Android phones. What happens is I click onto a thread page and it goes to that page and then spontaneously redirects me to uber.com and another one I don't remember exactly but uber was the first. I can stop this by dumping cookies but it has come back twice now.

Anyone else seeing this? I do not have any type of redirects or ads other than the Lijit banner, and unless you are somehow clicking on it by accident, there should not be anything disturbing your browsing here.

Anyone else?

I was getting redirected here in the forums about every three page loads on safari for iPhone. It would open a blank page and then open my App Store.

I turned off Java. That stopped it. But some pages require it. So it's a back and forth game of activating Java and disabling it and activating it again and disabling it.

Not sure what's causing it. But every time it opened my App Store it was for some game. Never the same game twice it seemed

It's possible I clicked on the uber banner ad accidentally when the phone reoriented itself while I was about to touch something else the first time and yes I've been redirected to my app store too as well as some coco-something wanting to find my location. I've location turned off.

Sounds like a potential virus/malware infection to me.

Yes it does, however, it hasn't happened when browsing two other forums so far, and it hasn't happened anymore today but I've purposely not logged in on my phone to see what happens.

It's crobo company that's doing the redirect, opening the playstore and directing me to suspicious game sights. This only happens when browsing subsim.com.

NeonSamurai 10-13-15 02:13 PM

Odds are still quite high it is some browser hijacker in your phone, and not subsim. The more sneaky ones will only target a handful of the sites that you use the most as a way of disguising their presence, so that people think it is the site doing it and not malware on their computer/device.

try googling "crobo malware"

I'll do some checking on my side.

Googled "crogo redirect" and found this:

http://techcrunch.com/2014/01/06/sha...e-google-play/

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/118...ng-redirecting

The second link is to another forum and, in the thread, the first link also appears; also, mention is made in the second of a problem related to Google AdSense. May be something to look at...

Thanks, vienna, that's a big help. I do not have Google AdSense anymore, not since they delisted Subsim for the Beautiful Woman thread and all those promiscuous mentions of "escorts" (destroyers).

I will turn off the Lijit banners for a while and send a note to their techie, and see if he has seen anything amiss.

Let me know if it continues.

So far no redirect problems.
