Spending Renown
 

I'm on my first decent campaign, a few successful patrols. it's Feb 1942, I have about 6k renown saved up. Should I be doing something with this? Is it going to offer me a new sub if I save renown?

I considered trying to upgrade my crew members, but it tells me I have too many officers to use any promotions or hire anyone. Should I be firing people and hiring new crewmen with my renown?

Is renown just semi-worthless at this point in the US campaign, or am I missing something important? Is it more important in the German campaign?

Only fire+Hire if you're getting someone really good is my philosophy. A good officer runs like 3,000. Stockpile that renown for future equipment upgrades.

I spend it on special abilities personnel first and then upgrade my equipment in between them. I usually get tonns of renown so I buy everything i can.
