Boat Trim and Cavitation

Has anyone looked at the boat trim in the simulation (camera view) SH4.

I noticed the props come out of the water periodically and don't know if that was an actual issue (real life) or if it is a simulation defect. I have attempted to tweak this by adjusting the Surface Depth but that doesn't seem to help in either FOTRS or the base game. How is the Surface Depth parameter used? And, by the way can Decks Awash be accomplished in FOTRS?

Lot of question...

Set your depth at about 32' and you'll be decks awash. Listen for the diesels. You want to be the deepest you can get and still have them running. It might be easier to dive deeper than 32' and then come up to that depth than go straight to 32' from the surface.

There is another thread that tells you how to program a hot key for "decks awash." Basically you edit a text file for the sub so that the "radar/snorkel depth" is about 8.8 meters (it varies by sub), and then set a hot key for "radar depth." Then go into the game and try it out.

You generally want it to be as deep as possible while still running on diesel. Other than listening, you can also look to see if the "charge batteries" button is lit - if it is, the your diesels are going. With Gato & Balao at "decks awash, usually everything above higher than the base of the (bow) deck gun will be above water, and your watch crew will go below - but you should still be able to go to the bridge yourself.

You can aslo adjust the default periscope depth - I like to bring it up about 1 meter so I can listen to the radio :D
