DCS World 2

Hi guys,

DCS World 2 approaching release, with a couple third party developers making WIP to add their creations and platforms. I wonder if from here, could be any dedicated team interested about starting Naval development for that Sim . Think about it, large ocean masses + coast with ports and Naval Bases, underwater inmersion aswell so there is a chance to build full operational Submarines so as surface vessels.

There is a map being developed actually covering Europe in WW2. So, why dont extend it beyond the coast line and implement Royal Navy / Kriegsmarine 1st person controllable units. DCS is a modern Sim with a lot of potential, and everything from ALL eges has space enough here.

So, what you think about ?

...that there is no real market for this.

Yet there is for a Spanish Air Force trainer?

Can DCS 2 handle underwater things? If not, submarines are out. DCS 1 already had basic controls for ground vehicles, that could be imported to naval surface objects.

The question is: who makes the detailed modules for the surface naval objects?

Not many have up-to-date knowledge about that stuff. So, who would do it?

Well, situation is to start studying a serious Naval environment development , stablish talks with ED for that concerning about the possibilities the entire sim + engine are offering . Of course, this can not be done with single mods. We need a dedicated third party shipbuilding team, specialized on vessels + building accurate maps covering portions of land and Sea masses, including a depth of lets say 3000 feet .

Given that the submarine genre is dead at the moment, perhaps ED throught DCS World 2 can be the ultimate platform from where to start a new beginning.

Those trainers are usually done by new development teams to practice how to build a DCS aircraft. It's easier to do than to start with a full combat jet. Once they have acquired those skills they start doing "real" aircraft.
