Submarine found in Swedish waters
Wreck divers Ocean X Team have found a sunken submarine of what looks like fairly modern design and it doesn't seem to be overgrown with underwater growth or silt. They also claim there is something that looks like cyrillic letters on the hull and all hatches are closed. It was found ~2.5km from the Swedish coast with it's hull apparently intact without any indications of damage.
All of this is just the initial impressions made by the dive team. Nothing has been confirmed. |
Saw a quick image of the sonar profile, and it looks like an old WW2 or earlier silhouette. Then they show the films of it, and it looks very, very clean. Weird.

Holy moly! This could be interesting...! (Sorry - cant find a link to a english version of the story)

A Russian mini-submarine has been discovered at Swedish territorial waters not far from the Swedish coast. The submarine is about 20 meters long and three and a half meters wide. It is unclear how old the submarine is and how long it has been laying at the sea floor, but the Cyrillic letters on the hull indicates that it is Russian. The discovery was made previous week by the Ocean X Team and Ixplorer. – The submarine is completely intact, have no visible damage to the hull and the hatches are closed. Therefore do we fear that the crew have not been able to save them self when the sub went down, says Stefan Hogeborn, divers in Ocean X Team. The submarine was found during an expedition where a camera equipped, unmanned mini-submarine of the model ROV, Remote Operated Vehicle, was sent down. Swedish Armed Forces was informed earlier today. Ocean X Team is now preparing for a new expedition, divers will be sent down to film and to investigate the submarine wreck more closely. Ocean X Team has previously made several discoveries such as shipwrecks and historical objects, including bottles of champagne from 1916 and the circular of the Baltic Sea Phenomenon etc. See moving pictures of the discovery site here, Expressen: http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/frammande-ubat-hittad-i-svenskt-vatten/" Link: http://www.oceanexplorer.se/ |

I'm not very well versed in ocean life, but how is it possible for a structure to remain as clean as the one shown in the images? It certainly looks like some sort of conning tower, but no growth can be seen at all. The close ups of the alleged "cyrillic letter" do show some growth (or possibly just silt).
And again, the sonar profile of the thing looks distinctly WW2-ish, but I don't know the angle it is taken at. Very interesting. @Aktungbby "This end" is what end? Germany? :) |
 That is...that is very well preserved, too well preserved.
Compare with the last Soviet sub that they found in Swedish waters: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...altic-sea.html Wonder if it was one of the Type XXIs that the Soviets got after WWII. :hmmm: |
It be funny if they found it while it was on assignment. All of a sudden it just gets up and leaves.

Hehe, those tricky Russians, all the time they use WW2 boats to spy, and play dead when being found :woot:
Would explain all those sub sightings in swedish waters ahem |
YOU HAVE BEEN COUNTER-DETECTED, CONTINUE WITH YOUR MISSION.

I feel very confident that there is a Catfish. It is true with the details of the submarine, "he said. 28.2 meters depth 300 (max) meters. |
