New Horizon almost there

It's going to be with interest to see these close-up pictures from Pluto.

haven't got any link, heard about it some hours ago.

The Satellit New Horizon will be Nearest Pluto at july 5th(If I remember corrctly)

I guess we the ordinary sci-fi nerds have to wait for these pictures or there's a channel where we can watch this live.

So far, the fuzziness appears to be enhanced with every 5 million kilometers crossed. :hmmm:

Indeed it does.

Maybe some computer will make the image more viewable when Horizon get closets to Pluto.

Forgot the word about this thing about the computer-Know they(NASA etc) use computers to make fussy image more clear.

Two days from the flyby. Pluto is starting to take shape. There a lot of vague tendril-like features that will hopefully resolve themselves as we get closer.

^ Thank you.

Saw the pictures and read the article in IFL. Was thinking about make a thread about it, forgot it and Voilá I have already made a thread about it.

It will take some time before the Scientist have "deprogrammed" the pictures a.s.o then we will have a lot of information about this planet.

I heard awhile back that Pluto had been downgraded from planet status.
Must be something about the number nine that the cosmologists don't like.
:88)I hate 9's
:doh:Me 2.

OMG, I see a skull feature! Those aliens bring death! We're all gonna die! I mean, with Greek mythology Pluto being the god of the underworld and all that.

I didn't expect it would take this long, to collect all the data

Quote:

The best images can be expected on Wednesday, but it will take 16 months for all of the data taken by the spacecraft to be sent back to Earth.
Furthermore, the time for processing of all the data, should also be added

Pluto/Hades was not an evil god.
He was not even an unpleasant. He just had an unpopular job. :)

Obviously, when it becomes time to name the features and regions on Pluto's surface, there has to be a Lethe, Styx, and Dis among them.
