Reminds me of a favorite scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy and Willow are taking part in a school talent contest and are sitting and watching while an amateur ventriloquist does his thing. Buffy starts to shiver and Willow asks her what's wrong.

Buffy: "Dummies wig me out. Ever since I was a little girl..."

Willow: "Ooh. What happened?"

Buffy: "I saw a dummy and it wigged me out. There's no story here."
