Photos of U-995 at Laboe Germany...
I joined the SUBSIM forum many years ago before my retirement when I purchases Silent Hunter 4. I was not very good at the game, or any game as far as that matters. Moving and my work ended my personal time until now. However, the past two years, I have been working on a book that details the workings of every system in the WWII German Type VII C U-Boat.
My book is technical by definition and used the 34 German 'Skizzenbuch" technical drawings which I explain the how and why each tank, line, and valve functions and when. I also cover the torpedoes, and the U-Boat's electronics. I have one web site that graciously provided me with many line drawings of the Type VII C U-Boat. I have been working with some photos of U-995 which are copyrighted and I have come to believe the web site may not allow me to use their photos. A gentleman from Ireland, forum name "Akula" has posted some fantastic photos from his visit to U-995 in Laboe, and has an excellent photo of U-995 on this site. I can not afford a trip to Germany to take photos of U-995. If anyone has some High Resolution photos of the inside of U-995 and is willing to allow me to use their photos in my book, then I will embed into the photo "Courtesy of "Name" and State or Country." That's the best that I can offer... At this point, I do have a publisher who is committed to my book since there is nothing in the publishing market like it. However, it will not be a high volume selling book, and most likely expensive because of the large format to accommodate the German schematics... Kind regards, Don_ |
welcome aboard!

By the way... Here is a photo of my 1/32nd scale OTW U-Boat which represents U-96. I built this model between 2003 and 2005. The hull is constructed from fiverglass, and the deck and tower are plate brass sheets, rods, and aluminum tubes for the periscope shafts. The 5 crewmen are made from metal also. I took this photo this past Christmas Season after we moved to the Alpharetta, Georgia area, and my 'War Room" was setup...

Thank you all for your comments about my U-96...
As the "A Team" Colonel John "Hannible" Smith would say "I love it when a plan comes together." I just received permission from the web site to use their high resolution color photo of U-995 in my book. That only leaves one photo in question... The one from this web site provided by a gentleman from Dublin, Ireland, with the forum name of "Akula"... I just like his photo and would like to keep it in my book. Regards, Don_ |
Ahoy Don, look forward to reading your book!
