2x Quickies.

I have 2 quick questions, could anyone help? Appreciated. 1. Sub Flags 008 by the Dark Wraith; Old favorite of mine, however, I found it caused me a CTD. has this been updated or is there a fix? 2. I continually receive garbled rubbish to the effect ; " traveling on both motors, speed 14 knots in this weather" which repeats several times, even when I am in the Bunker and stationery. Looking at my mods list, the only 2 mods that I can see that might cause this appear to be "speech fixes and additions German version or Warfox crew always whispering,german version. EMCCD v0.3.2 by archer9 Your DYN Env mods should be in numerical order. sub flags known for ctd,s Raven tried to fix this. Also known to give problems. All Mods in my list are working OK. i appear to have no compatibility issues apart from (a) Wishing that I could install TDW Sub flags. (b) this speech problem i mentioned . Reference St Michael Mod, runs fine, no problems there. EMCCD ? Well I have had the problem of repeated garbage long before putting EMCCD on, though I note your comments about EMCCD. Re DYNV mods, i thought I had placed them as per the Sobers way? Rongels' Lifeboats have given me no trouble whatsoever. Stopped or appear to have stopped CTD problem. I have put it down to Nvidia GT 8800 single graphic card as having only 512 of ram, consequently I changed mod listing to cope with this. Graham p.s; New layout. The Wolves Of Steel uses a big mod list over 90. No, you would not want to inoculate, you would want to catch it. We have seen some good attempts to improve SH5 but I think TWOS is a major step forward for now and the future of SH5. If vdr can continue to improve it then it may end up with some deserved credibility. sober mentioned the problem with EMCCD a long time a go and removed it from his mod list. A 512gb gpu I am afraid is not man enough for the job and only meets the games stock requirement . Even with a 1gb gpu you will struggle at times. sobers mods can be heavy on resources and he used to do a mod that reduced the loadings called 'sobers reduced file sizes SH5 V2' and was placed last in the mod list but for some reason is now no longer used in his listing. With that big mod list it is like shooting yourself in the foot. I take it that you are using Antilag? I can understand your frustration regarding ctd's but you are bound to encounter these at various times in your games when your gpu is just over whelmed and cannot cope. The only way you will get over this is a bigger gpu - a new system - reduce the number of mods being used. Of the 79 mods you have enabled there are 35 mods I would have no trouble taking it out leaving 44 to play with. I currently play with 56 and have a 4gb gpu. There is a saying that sometimes less is more. Peter |

I have just noticed your Avatar change. What disgraceful things are you up to in maturity? Lol.:) I have never in the past 2 years ever considered that the number of mods activated is the primary concern where my past CTD's were concerned. my main emphasis has been in trying to achieve what we all strive for and that is compatibility of Mods with each other . No doubt about it, the amount of RAM associated to your graphics card is very important to smooth running of any game, more so in SH5, due to the intense demand upon the card placed by certain combinations of activated MODs. Therefore having tried firstly, over the last 2 years to arrive at a mod list that suited my tastes, I then went on to try to find the best listings to suit both my requirements and importantly, that of my system. My computer was previously used for both business and pleasure, the former taking into account graphics design, which i used extensively without any problems whatsoever. The list that I now use I do not consider numbers to be a main governing factor whatsoever, it is the TYPE and COMBINATIONS of activated MODS working together that to me, is the governing factor. Hence I have tried my best where possible to follow layout and listings comparable to those tried and tested by people such as Sobers, Fi-Fi etc;etc, as they have been there and have the Tee shirts for doing so. To all of those gentlemen I am most grateful for showing the way. My current list is working at last without CTD's and smoothly enough. Yes, we are bound to have occasional CTD's when playing such an energy resourceful game and yes there are still improvements to be made in certain MODS, no doubt, however, my present list WORKS at present. Do you remember the CTD's I continually received when trying to access either the Dover Straits and entering Scapa Flow? GONE. Reason, graphics problem, I therefore tried to rid my setup of the more intensive color demanding mods and find a balance across the board that personally suited me and worked. So far I have achieved what I set out to do and I am in and out of Scapa & Dover Straits like unto a busy Bee. No doubt about it, Peter, my setup would benefit from a change of graphics card with more RAM/Gpu. Trouble is, if you up your spec on graphics cards you have to follow through on several other up-dates as well, power and possibly Motherboard. I am using DDR2 which would be better if it were DDR3 etc. No doubt in time, I will adjust these problems, however, not at present. Latest project was to change my 2x512GB drives to 2x 2TB drives and added a NAS unit for increased space. Yes! I am using antilag. Well, signing off, Peter, always nice to hear from you. Keep well.
