It aint over 'till the fat lady sings!
PARIS: France's health minister says she supports plans to criminalize the use of advertising with anorexic models in France. Altogether a good thing as I've known at least three ladies with horrific anorexia issues.
The measure would put France, a world capital of fashion, among countries like Israel and Spain to crack down on the glorification of dangerously thin models. Hasta la vista Calvin Klein! Socialist lawmaker Olivier Veran wants to add language to an upcoming health reform bill to make it illegal to employ models deemed to have an eating disorder. A second would make it a crime to glorify "excessive thinness," which would target pro-anorexia websites. It would be punishable by up to one year in prison and 10,000 euros ($10,575) in fines...Israel and Spain have already instituted such laws. In 2007, Spain banned models from the catwalks whose body mass-to-height ratio was below 18. In Israel, a law in 2013 banned underweight models. Let's hope the carpenters have reinforced the fashion-show 'catwalk' as we reVAMP the:subsim: "women you think are beautiful thread" just to stay politically correctly abreast of the French, Spanish and israeli's:03:!http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slides...64053_free.jpghttp://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slides...64048_free.jpgAll humor aside: this a serious problem of exploitive cruelty for profit that causes misery and death...IMHO, the above three nations are on the side of angels here: http://paleoforwomen.com/two-shocking-dehumanizing-reasons-runway-models-are-so-thin-and-why-we-should-never-aspire-to-look-like-them/ :salute: And actually, Calvin Klein, to it's credit, is altering it's advertising to encompass the needs of larger ladies. http://www.elle.com/fashion/news/a15178/myla-dalbesio-calvin-klein-plus-size/ |
You know we have too many laws when they start mandating how fat models have to be.

The French have always had a thing for girls with some meat on their bones. Must be leftover from the Roman occupation.

When i first dated my wife, she modeled and had to stay so thin, it was required,...she is 5'10 and stayed around 110. She looked great in clothes, but so bone thin.....course she was at the end of her career when we met....I was glad that she finally put some cushion on her buns...
Heck, the Hollywood women of the 40's era we so love had meat, great curves, today most would be considered a tad fat in the model world... Still, when I go to my son's school, I'd say 70% of the kids are just overweight, something I never saw in my day...not something we want to glorify one way or the other. |
