Tambor to Balao...No Gato
 

I am running TMO2.5 with the small patch.
But it keeps jumping me from a tambor to a balao in one big jump.
It continues to skip right over the gato.
Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
I have tried everything and nothing seems to fix it. I wonder if the
small patch which was created to fix another tambor problem, which
it did, has now caused this to happen?

What do you mean?

That's not technically a glitch or problem in the game - there's just no historical reason for why you should get a progression through every type in the game. There were twice the number of Balaos built than Gatos, and there were far more of them being commissioned as brand new boats after the first year of the war.

I've been assigned to both, seems to be luck of the draw depending on date in campaign.

Agreed, the only time I've had that issue depends on what base and what time of year. Seems I usually skip the Gato when I base out of Midway if it hits the right time. Most the other bases, like Brisbane, seems the Balao comes much later war, if at all at some of them and you'll get the Gato. I do use RSRD. Anyway, good to see you fella.

I wondered if it might be something like that.
But I use to get the Gato all the time, and now not at all.
Well I'll keep plugging along, maybe something will change.

start a new campaign and pick a later date and Gato class sub and see if you get one...if not, then i'd say u have a problem with your files

If I start from mid 42 the gato shows up in the list, however

I usually start Dec. 8th out of Manila and no gato shows up, time after time
it just skips over the gato.
I started last time, out of Pearl and Sept. of 42 it went from a tambor
to a balao again.

What do you think I need to do to fix this thing?

I think if stay in the subgroup commands down in Australia I get the Gato, but often if I go to Pearl/Midway to port, it skips over it, because the Balao becomes available.....course i use rsrd....

first, did u actually pick the gato and start the game at a later date to see if you get one?

Yes, June 1942/Pearl, and it gives me a gato.
But the damn thing won't give me one in a start up game.

I don't use RSRD, just TMO2.5 and some other smaller add on mods.

I don't have the game or mods loaded back up. It may be so few were available at the state, you don't get one even out of Pearl, but they come available in 42

The USS Drum was the first Gato to be commissioned. This was Nov. 1, 1941. However, it wasn't until months later that it was ready for front-line duty.
