How do I make textures

As the title says how do I make texture mods. I already have GIMP.

It's a good idea to use existing textures as a baseline, for a start. Other than that, I don't really have much advice to give, sorry.

Sorry, I can't offer any actual practical advice, but you will probably get a better response if you re-post this in the SH3 Mods Workshop forum.

Good luck mate.:)

I've not done any textures for SH but i do for other games. Having had a look at it, it seems much the same. Personally I use paint.net, it's free and constantly updating. Load the texture you want to use into it and use it as a as your template. Practice and perseverance, it takes time but is worth it.

Nice advice. Paint is a good free program :yep:

As several posters have said, the texture files are easy to change. They are just Targa files (.tga) and any good bit-map graphics program can modify them. But there is a catch: How the areas of the texture file are mapped onto the 3D model is specified elsewhere. Without that information, it is difficult to know what to change to affect the appearance of a particular object. I'm still trying to find where the mapping is defined. Anybody help?
