Not recognizing reaching area of ops

I was told to proceed to the East China Sea. Went directly through objective star and nothing happens. Tried it several different directions and nothing. Is this a glitch ? also, how do I delete games?

Thanks

What does the symbol in the yellow star look like?

Some objectives require you to stay within a certain radius of the star, other to sink a certain amount of shipping (Usually 10K)

Also, ahoy matey's! :yeah:

There is a set of binoculars in the star. Can't remember what the symbol was in my first mission but the first objective was completed as soon as I touched the star.

Pretty sure the Bino's is a patrol symbol.

Stay within 150nm of the marker and it should give you a completion in 72 hours.

Yes some are time sensitive so you have to stay there a certain number of hours. You can manually delete games in the save game folder or do it one by one under save game while the game is running.

If your talking about removing the game then uninstall.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate it. I thought I might lose my first mission if I had to start over. Big relief. BTW, how did you find this out?

Like everything else, the hard way. When it's strictly a "patrol" mission (without the secondary order to sink merchants), get within 1000 yards of the marker, set accelerated time (AKA time compression or TC) on, then wait 48 hours. I'm working on a mod to change from 2880 minutes (48 hours) to 60 minutes for all the patrol missions, but there are a lot of them.

The game also usually autosaves when you leave port - so you should be able to go back to just before going on your most recent patrol

Hope this helps. Everything is so confusing when you 1st get started. Then you think you know what you are doing and then you say damn I was doing that wrong! Great game. If you get a star with binoculars enlarge your map use your compass and from the center of the star make a circle just under 50mi I use 48 plot your course to stay in the circle. Don't know if its 48 hrs or 72 hrs then you will get a new mission. Also if you look at your map one of your ports will have a slanted anchor that is where you can end a patrol. When you end a patrol any hull damage you have will be repaired and you can use your renown points for better weapons and cool stuff like radar

An older thread for sure, but some nice info there on the various objectives: Beery :yep:

Wow ! I really appreciate all the help. It's been years since I played and
never really got that deeply into the game. Think I started out with AOD.
Oh, and my son reminded me that we played a lot of Silent Service when he was a kid. He's a LCDR in the Navy now. Anyway, I retired recently and have a lot of time to delve into the game. So far, I,'m loving it. The tedium and boredom of the hunt in my first mission was excruciating. Nothing but fishing boats around Hokaido. Then that first freighter. I literally cheered out loud when it went down. Really helps to give one a modicum of understanding of what it was really like. Anyway, it's great to know how
people are ready, willing and able to help on this forum. Thanks again. :salute:
