Norton Internet Security issue with SH5

Norton Internet Security has in more than one occasion quarantined some SH5 files, having classified them as WS.Reputation.1 threats.

1. Is this a known issue? and
2. Do I have to worry?
3. If not, how do I avoid future removals by NIS?

Thank you for your help.

Your mistake was infecting your computer with a Norton product (unless it came pre-installed. In that case the following probably won't help since it is likely that the reinstall disc or restore method that came with your pc has norton built in). The only way to get rid of it is to reformat and reinstall windows, then I would suggest just using Microsoft Security Essentials, or if you need a ton of security and have money to spend I recommend ESET NOD32. Just remember that no antivirus can safegaurd against the user, watch your browsing habits. If you can't be bothered to do that, this page might help a bit: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/...rProfile_en_us

That WS.Reputation.1 means it just got a bad reputation classification based on some sort of crowd-based community oppinion. It's not a real threat where it is identified that the code does something bad. Probably an opinion based on ignorance of what the files do or contain.

Which files or fileformats exactly did it put in quarantine?

It's been more than a decade ago since I used Norton software (major resource hogs if you ask me) so I don't know how the current user interface works. But I'm sure there must be a way to assign folders as exclusion/ignore zones.
