Radioed for a wolfpack with periscopic aerial?
I was playing the mission in happy days campaign where you have to intercept a large important convoy. I was submerged in front of the convoy which I believe is scripted and spawns in. I was admiring the extending aerial from the external view and wondered if the modders have actually made it functional. So I looked in the radio mans commands and saw one option was available so I clicked it.

Shadow the convoy and wait for wolf pack. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps30655e3d.jpg I determined the convoy speed was 5 kts, so I could outpace them submerged till I was far enough in front to surface safely. As I was flanking ahead submerged, I got another radio call, for me to send out a signal for the friendly Uboats to home in on. Which I did by pressing the same command and when I surfaced I also sent the contact with convoy command. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps23c9f255.jpg One by one three U boats turned up and we all attacked at dawn. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps33985b17.jpg Wow that was cool. Did I call them with the extending aerial or was this scripted wolf pack for the mission? Also this aerial seems to have some kind of direction finding function? I tried it again after the convoy and it said "nearest radio contact" and gave a bearing and range. So was that an enemy ship? Can I use it like a longer range hydro phone. If the radio gives a bearing and range couldn't I try a plot? I imagine this was historically done. Maybe it doesn't work because the target has to signal and I can't make them do it every 30mins. This game is fantastic modded! Thankyou everyone who made SH5 work with your mods. |
