Recognition manual not showing length

Haven't played silent hunter for a few years, and on coming back thought I'd give RFB a try. I can't get the ship recognition manual to display ship lengths, no matter what I try. Full re install, then added in the below mods one by one, still no ship lengths, none in vanilla either.

Now maybe I'm just misremembering, and there never were any ship lengths, but how are you supposed to calculate the angle on the bow without a ship length to get an aspect ratio? Do people just use an external ship recog manual, and calculate ratios from there?

mods:

RFB_2.0
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
RSRDC_RFB_V575
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Nav Map Make-Over v2.1
NMMO Airbase Add-on
NMMO v2.1 Patch 1 with AB
Fixed_CD_sonar_RSRDC
Improved Ship Physics_2.15

The only mod that adds ship lengths to the RM is Optical Targeting Correction. The main reason is because the stock game optical views (periscope, TBT....the views that can measure length) are not accurately scaled to measure length/height correctly. No other mod corrects this issue........why would they add estimated ship lengths if it won't help in accurately measuring anything!?

Most players just ignore this fault of the game, get as close as they can to the target, and just blast away. They will get enough hits to satisfy themselves, and be none the wiser.

OTC comes in various editions, with lots of other added features. You might want to try the edition just for the stock game, or the one compatible for an RSRDC v550 stock game. The "OTC for RSRDC v550" has the "Fixed_CD_sonar_RSRDC" already included within it, along with several other RSRDC fixes. I've never called OTC a "Mega Mod", but the changes made speak for themselves.

Ahh, I read in the RFB thread that you didn't need OTC with it, so I assumed that RFB came bundled with OTC or something similar.

Do I want OTC for RSRDC v550, then? Is that compatible with RFB too? I see there is a RFB compatible version listed as well, but that's from a very old version.

RSRDC v550 is only for the stock game, don't use it with RFB. RSRDC v575 is to be used with RFB 2.0.

I did not make a compatible edition of OTC for Real Fleet Boats 2.0. There are no editions for it. When LukeFF decided to pull out one of my older mods from RFB (Ship Centered, Accuracy Fix.... or SCAF) for the idea of intentionally throwing off measurements of height when calculating range to target, I washed my hands of RFB.

There is a compatible edition for RFB v1.4, but you apparently have the 1.5 version of SH4. Won't work.

OK, so if I want manual targeting and a major overhaul mod, my only option is TMO with RSRDC 502 and your mod?

Do you know if there are any mods which turn down the AI a little for TMO? I remember before it was a bit over tuned for my tastes, if the AI is all over you 20 seconds after putting up your periscope in the middle of the night it makes manual targeting a bit impossible.

Thanks for the help.

The latest edition of TMO 2.5 has toned down some of the sensors which were over the top. Ducimus heard the calls for a different game play, and changed things from his 2.0 version when making his 2.5 version. RSRDC v502 changes a few things too in TMO, so does OTC. I think you may find it a good combination. Much more playable than in the past, yet still keeping you engaged when compared to the stock game.
