No news updates / no more docking
Hello fellow Kaleuns,
I started playing SH3 (GWX) again recently and found two mysteries I hope you can solve: 1. Since March 1944 the news bulletin (whatever it is called I dunno) in the loading screen doesn't update any more. Why's that? 2. In the last mission in May 1945 I can't end the mission. When I'm sunk by the enemy (I was hunting again in Scapa Flow with my XXI, good fun! :arrgh!:) or when I come back to a friendly port and choose END MISSION the game crashes and I am back on my Win XP desktop. No error message box. Has anyone else experienced this problem? When I start a new career it works again fine. Thanks, René U-3017 XXI |
welcome back!

Back on subsim I browsed through the topics and found out that there are already one or two updates  to GWX so I might make a fresh installation of SH3 plus GWX Gold and start all over again... I find it strange starting a new career back in 1939, because my crew isn't trained anymore ('Sorry Kaleun, we're to sleepy to reload torpedoes') and the Schnorchel is missing. Only 14 torpedoes to fire? Damn! :hmmm: |

I just reinstalled SH3 according to the instructions here in the forum, and the game runs fine.
Now I want to install GWX 3.0 Gold onto SH3, but as soon as the copying process is about to start I get error messages that the source files are corrupted and can't be read. All the installation files are in the same folder on my HDD. I do not have a GWXInstErr.log File unfortunately. Any ideas? :/\\!! I've attached a screenshot. I hope you all got your "German Word Recognition Manual" at hand! :88) |
There are some download locations that are known to be corrupt. (I don't know which though) The known good location is the link shown in Jimbuna's signature (2 posts above).
