Weirdest thing I have heard.

Koro:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koro_%28medicine%29

Quote:

Koro is a culture-specific syndrome in which an individual has an overpowering belief that his or her genitals (e.g., penis or female nipples) are retracting and will disappear, despite the lack of any true longstanding changes to the genitals.
Quote:

The manual gives koro's definition as "a term, probably of Malaysian origin, that refers to an episode of sudden and intense anxiety that the penis (or, in females, the vulva and nipples) will recede into the body and possibly cause death."

I wonder what you were looking for to stumble over this.:O:

There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this!

I was on ArmA Finland's IRC channel, and asked if anyone has range tables for ArmA 3's AGM mod snipers. The word commonly used for elevation adjustment in finnish is "koro", so someone linked the finnish Wikipedia article about this... thing.

See? Reasonable. :smug:

Sounds like people for whom the Shrink-Wrap fetish got out of hand one night.

The very thought of someone sniping at me...would cause some shrinkage-perfectly logical!!? :hmmm: :D :nope:

Coming from anybody else Dowly, I can believe it, but from you.... I don't know.... :hmm2:

Oberon 10-24-14 02:53 PM

I don't recall it getting that cold in Malaysia...then again that would only work for one gender...

Herr-Berbunch 10-24-14 03:45 PM

I tell you something I haven't heard. Dowly's voice on TS.

Probably too shrink wrapped to open his mouth. :03:

Commonly known in the UK as 'brewers droop'.

I've come across really weird stuff while doing a normal search.. it happens.. this is the inet.

My worst was when showing my kids something and an innocent link ended up being a porn site... right in front of my young kids ??
So I calmly explained that they will also have this happen, and all you have to do is close the page, as these people are not nice...:timeout:
Now that they're older they'll just laugh at me...:D

Armistead 10-25-14 04:19 PM

Koro is just the fact of getting old. I stare in the mirror and I know mine is shrinking....

What was that link again? Just so I know to avoid it, obviously. :Kaleun_Salivating:

Isn't there words in some country that have a weird or sick meaning in another country

I know some words in Danish(harmful word) that have a totally different meaning in Swedish(not so harmful)

The thread also made me remember a funny story I once heard from a friend. The story happened many years ago.

It's about a store(Near a marina) and a very young girl

This girls parents own this store and one day this young girl, she was about 15 years(If I remember correctly) Helped her parents by taking care of the store.

A German couple entered the store and the German male person asked in German if they had lamps(lampe) this young girl couldn't a word in German, she could speak and understand some English
Here is what she said

Do you mean "ficklampa"(Eng-flashlight)
The German male person said
Nein in Deutschland wir ....ohne lampe

That made me laugh

Sounds like something a German man would say when his wife caught him at it...

Anyway I visited this thread when it opened and thought "Just shrinkage that's all; nothing to worry about there", and Dowly was managing to make it funny enough without any help...

PS/ Tango: that's just what I was thinking!
