Man, I can barely stand Houston, I could not imagine living in Mumbai or Caracas.

That being said, I think the 100km, nine day long traffic jam near Beijing in 2010 has to be some sort of record. :dead:

Was at Hong Kong in the late 70's....like living in an ant colony.

I bet imagine what it must be like now.

Talking about pollution, a few friends have said that they can smell one Indian city when the aircraft is still high and many miles out.
I cannot remember which city but they said it was bad.. :o

Some areas of India, such as Chennai (formerly Madras, and very nice by the beach ) or Kerala (which is very green and lush and has elephants) are very welcoming. Other areas such as Mumbai (a blanket of smog hung over the stupidly crowded city for the day we were there) or Delhi (just plain dirty and awful) were not worth visiting. Also worth noting, driving in India is not for the faint-hearted. The only rule seems to be 'keep it on the left of the road lads', and they don't stick to this very well. Getting a taxi from Rajkot airport to the in-laws house, the driver decided to take a shortcut the wrong way round a busy roundabout, and the traffic parted in front of us like it was the normal thing to do. I nearly had to change my laundry!:o

Rgr that and the folk over there don't appear to be too happy atm.
