InstallShield Wizard freezes...
 

Windows 8 laptop:

I installed a game which ran superbly; uninstalled it later. When I recently tried to reinstall it I got the above and was left with message "1628. Failed to complete installation"

I've tried to run installer on compatibility settings but with same result...

Probably some left over registry entries not removed when you uninstalled. Try a registry cleaner like CCleaner or (what I use now) Puran Utilities.

This did occur to me, but all my feeble grasp of things suggested was to do a drive search for any leftover files (there were a few) and delete them. It didn't make any difference but thanks indeed for this new avenue...

New to me Tony but I'll certainly have a ganders having read what looks like a good bundle of programmes.

PuranUtilitiesSetup.exe is malicious and Chrome has blocked it. :hmmm:

Edit: MSE and Spybot S&D say it's okay :hmmm:

It is ok Jim. I have run it for months now even though Google didn't like it when I downloaded it. Avast, Malwarebytes, and IObit Malware Fighter all say it is fine.

Rgr that, I suspected as much so will install at the weekend :up:
