is there a mod for realistic rearm/refuel time?

hey guys, I don't really like how in sh4 when u rearm and refuel that it gets done in less than a second and you have 100% fuel and ammo and torpedoes. is there a mod that changes that?

Yeah, sort of. It works like this: After refueling and rearming and before getting back under way, set TC to 64, go get a beverage of your choice, and wait 6 to 8 minutes.:O:

Seriously, there is no mod or other alternative AFAIK. The self-imposed wait is the way I've seen recommended.

It seems that SH4 has never received the same degree of modding attention that SH3 and SH5 have profited by. Fact of life.

With RFB when you re-arm the message will tell you to wait in port for four hours until reloading is complete. You do not have to but this is the closest you can get at this point to being required to wait.

How long did it actually take them to load weapons on those boats IRL?

On my 688, it took all day... sometimes two. It sucked too because we'd be tied up at WestLoc in Pearl Harbor where there is no shore power, so us Nukes were on an at-sea rotation sitting in the middle of Hawaii.

I'm sure it didn't suck as bad as those guys had it though, so I shouldn't complain.

^ Yeah, that.

As far as how long it took, I suppose it depends on what they had to do. If they only needed to top off their tanks, they would probably be on their way in a few hours (if they were rushed). If they needed a full load of torpedoes, fuel, food, (maybe even take off sick crewmen?), I suppose it would be at least a day.

I got the impression that skippers would usually wanted to give their crews a chance to stretch their legs, if they had the chance.

Being that I am a RFB user, I try to follow the guidelines that the mod suggests. I'll actually dock at a slip, and TC the 4 hours before shoving off. Something else that should have been included (or modded if possible) is after a patrol, being ordered to Mare Isl. for major re fits. during the correct time frames.

Yes, going back to the States, with a month of shore leave for the crew, would be nice. :)

what do you need a mod for this for, Load game, options, gameplay, tick more realistic loading times oh hang on - you on about REFIT times??? Dunno its not important to the game.

TorpX 08-14-14 11:18 PM

Well, if you mean to say it's not critical to the game, I'd agree. But, it would add some texture to the campaign. If it's always WHAM BAM - sinking ships and getting medals, it begins to take on the aspect of an arcade game.

Understood and to an certain extent agree, but the bottom line is that is is 'just a game' :arrgh!:

It all depends on how you play the game and what you want from it. Some want a more historically accurate sim. Some play it as "just a game". Some want "immersion" (Nothing subjective here!:D). Many trade some historical accuracy for the more intense experience of TMO. Some like the SSBN mod.

Who's right? We are!

I like that - 'immersion'

I took would like total historical accuracy, but still its gaming :arrgh!:

'Immersion." Something any subsim should have.:rotfl2:

A simulation need not be "just a game." It may not be a game at all. But it is never reality.
