Sinking ships not credited for

Hello subsimmers,

i have a question concerning the sinking of ships and the mapmarker. Its my understanding, that when you see the red marked icon of a sinking ship on you navigational map it will be counted as sunk by you. ok.

I attacked a convoy in late 1939 of the coast of england and fired 2 torpedoes each at two troop transport ships. All hits. One troop ship is sinking right away and counted and im credited with its sinking - the other one struggles for a good 7 minutes and then is going down - i get the action camera on it. Funny thing is - the sinking of this second transport is not credited! Its not marked on the map - though it went to the buttom!

What is wrong here - has any one encountered this and how can it be fixed?

My game is a digital version (Gold) from Gamersgate.

I have the Wolves of steel V1.2 + patch, TDW Realistic navigation and Realistic Hydrophone Mods installed and active.

Thx.

Yes it has happened to me once. I am running Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition. I chalked it up to All Guts No Glory. Not a solution I know just saying it happened

Hmmm, that has never happened to me before. Have you tried reloading a save and seeing if it still happens?

Its inconsistens

Hi there,

reloading "fixes" it, but i have to sink again and hope it doesn`t happen again. Sometimes both will be counted, sometimes not.

I have hit ships , but did not see them sink . now in the course of battle Avoiding Escorts and wasserbomben . Iam more focused on evading these situtaions , However after a few hours and a message this ship sank etc . could this be true for you ?

Hi kimuraijn,

no thats not true for me. Waiting for hours does not count them in. What i found out is, that when i save after i sunk both of them but only was credited for one and the reloaded the game - the one that clearly sunk but was not credited was alive and well again :hmm2:.

Just like real life back then. Sometimes they didn't get credit for sinking something that they knew they did sink. A real realistic sim ain't it?:haha:

At least you found a way to fix it.

Thank you all for your help.

Well if anybody should have the same problem in the future and finds this thread -think of us and understand that there is more than tonnage to life.

Just another thought, are you sure you saw her go down, the one you were not credited for that is? If you are using realistic sinking times then it can be quite slow, or she may have be able to limp back to port?

Hi,

absolutly sure as i use relaxed realism settings like external camera and action camera. The action camera went into action when the ship was sinking and i saw it with me own eyes. It was fully submerged and going for the buttom.

Welcome back!
