Microsoft CEO Mission Statement FY 2015

Satya Nadella lays it on the table to his employees on the 10th Of July.

Here's the full email:

What it doesn't mention (of course) is that Microsoft is looking at shedding up to approximately 5% of it's total global workforce.
In the firing line are potentially former Nokia personnel, plus engineering and marketing.

Biggest cuts in Microsoft's history.

Suddenly, some of that sheen has come off the well-worded email to those employees that will be affected by the cuts.

I imagine the news that old arch-rivals Apple and IBM have gotten together recently to challenge Microsofts' dominance in business software hasn't brightened Satya Nadella's day much.

If the employees read between the lines they'll find...

"Get ready to bend over to pick up your pink slip"

So Satya to see you go.:salute:
Sorry about the kick in the Nadellas.:shucks:

CEO's mission statement for most large corporations is along the lines of:

1. Prepare golden handshake and pension.
2. Do the good/bad/good news thing - profits are up, 30% of you are fired, the remaining can have a free coffee.
3. Hide the fact the profits aren't really up.
4. Hide the fact the real percentage of staff loss is nearer 60, but then made up by overseas staff on zero-hour contracts for minimum wage.
5. Indicate you'll soon quit for 'family reasons' and try to stash your gains from the tax man.

All direct deposited into a Cayman Islands bank account. No worries about the tax man.:woot:

Golden Parachute safely to the ground. Start new job as CEO of Chase bank for three times the previous salary.

Just about sums it up for me :yep:

When this guy 'came on board' as CEO, his back ground and his vision of MSoft smelt like trouble to me, and I said so :hmmm:.... well there you go
:arrgh!:

Because of imminent lay-offs?

vanjast 07-17-14 01:51 PM

Nope, he was from a non-IT background, and with little understanding of technology.
IIRC he is more of an accountant type = disaster for anything technical (in most cases).

MSoft has always gone to length to support their past OS's and legacy devices and still held a major share of the PC market - In his introductory speech this guy was about to drop this lot for the mobile market, a market where MSoft was battling. What was this idiot thinking ??

They're laying off ~18,000. I wonder how much of that is going to be in Seattle?

Don't really matter....wherever it is at, it is bad crack :nope:

I'm going to make a teeny weeny prediction.

This guy will leave MSoft by the next financial year, and/or there will be even more lay-offs.

'Accountants' laying off staff is usually a sign of miss-management and/or bad strategy. This could be the result of committing to much in the mobile market where the competition is a lot stiffer and years ahead of MSoft.

He should rather stick to a market where Msoft is dominant (PCs) and as a 'sideline extra', work their way into the mobile market.

I place one virtual Pizza and Beer on the table.
:D
