Live dive of U-166 wreck
 

Hello people :)

Nautiluslive.org will be conducting a deep submersible ROV dive on the wreckage
of U-166 , a Type IXC sunk off of Louisiana on July 30th , 1942 .
It had scored four ships on it's current patrol before being sunk , with 52 aboard .
Should be interesting to see .
They are preparing the ROVs now .

They've started descending now, takes about an hour to reach the bottom.

Just incredible . Since the deck wood is gone , you could see the fuel tanks and structure . Heading to bow section now , then the ship Robert E Lee that was sunk by U166 before her demise .

The team is now closing in on the Robert E Lee , the steam passenger ship U166 sank before her own demise .

All their dives, recent and planned are well worth watching :cool:
