Check out Nasa's new warp-drive spaceship designs

More than likely it will be a reality long after everybody here is gone, but faster-than-light travel now has some solid backing and we might finally see the technology being seriously researched. So far, the concept of warp drives seems to be the most realistic way of ever attaining faster than light travel. Reaching distant starsystems is the only way we're ever going to ensure the survival of our species, and it opens up seemingly infinite possibilities for new discoveries, including resources and alien lifeforms, anywhere from full blown animal-like species to small microbes. This technology very well may be the future.

(also, look closely in the picture at what they named the ship design :D)

Looks a little Vulcan.

Well, you didn't expect us to get the Klingons to share, did you?

Faster than the speed of light, eh? They must be using liquid Schwartz!

I'm just waiting for something like these...

Prepare ship for ludicrous speed!

Hey, just you wait until they join the Federation. They'll give us lots of stuff, like Worf's sexy voice!

Also, NASA screwed up. The warp engines should have a clear line of sight to each other. Why else do you think the Romulan warbirds have a big hole in the middle?! What NASA SHOULD have done is to design it identically to Wolferz's signature.

Not necessarily.

The D'Deridex has the gap to save costs I'd imagine, the design was intended to be larger than any Federation or Klingon vessels in service at the time, but to build a vessel that big without the double hull would be extremely costly. Talons don't grow on trees after all. :03:

Of course not. They're too busy hanging out around Uranus.:O:

Let's do it!
It's way past time for us to start thinking like the Federation members illustrated in Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future. The future is now.
With SpaceX starting to come on line as the economical method for putting people and cargo into LEO, it's very doable.:)

You're right and for those who say "It would cost trillions of dollars" to those I would say

"You have to think in a Roddenberry-way a wold without money"

Everyone working for the benefit and betterment of all is a concept so foreign to most that I doubt we'll see it in our lifetime.:-?

Looks like they didn't forget to add the phaser arrays.
