Anyone ever hear of "Operation Blue Star"?

Seems that yesterday was the 30th anniversary: https://in.news.yahoo.com/the-untold-story-before-operation-bluestar-080806093.html

Eighty-three armymen and 492 civilians died in Operation Bluestar, the single bloodiest confrontation in independent India's history of civil strife.

The Golden Temple thing?
Big news back then and in the news again recently with the elections and recent revelations about British involvement.
Flight 182 also made big news, if I remember correctly Skybird linked to some stuff by the Canadian based Sikh terrorists because they said something about Muslims he wanted to share with the forum.

I heard somewhere that Indria Ghandi was advised to remove all of her Sikh bodyguards after the whole thing went down but she did not probably a bad decision in retrospect.Of course she had known one of the men that killed her for a decade so perhaps she felt that he would not be a threat to her.

Would not the 8,000 Sikhs that got killed by rioting mobs be a far greater loss of life?

There was a clash between Sikhs at the temple the other day IIRC, with swords too. Quite a stir.
