Silent 3ditor

Hey Folks,

Could someone kindly steer me towards a good link to a Silent 3ditor download? I have looked at two so far and when I go to download the thing, my security software starts raising red flags and shooting off warning flares about viruses and malware. I want to get into the torpedo files and up the "impulse" numbers. I think the torps in SH3 are a bit underpowered, making Ketschmer's "One ship, one torpedo" maxim almost impossible to duplicate if the intended target is anything bigger than a coastal freighter, whether using magnetic pistol or impact, it doesn't matter. I compare the holes my torps make with some of those portrayed in photos of the real thing from WW II and there is no comparison. A square hit with a real german torpedo mangeled the hell out of the side of a freighter. Seems like I'm averaging about 1 torp per 2000 tons, usually but not always, even when I am pumping them into vital areas. You know, 300+ kilos of hexanite was nothing to sneeze at. Last patrol out it took 4 torpedoes to sink a T3 Tanker. Ridiculous. The only mod I could find for torpedo strength had no read-me so I have no idea what game it was intended for. Anyone have a solution or suggestion?

I can't believe we didn't already have a copy here at Subsim Downloads. I happened to have a copy and here it is!

Inside the zipped folder you'll find several tutorials, plus another zipped folder containg S3D itself. It's version 0.99. I don't know if Skwasjer did another after that. If he did let me know and I'll put it up in place of this one.

Thanks for the help guys. I've got it installed now. I don't really see any tutorials other than a couple of read-mes and an html. I'll try to figure it out and get to modifying torp power.

P.S. I promise I won't manufacture any nuclear torpedoes.

What? If I hadn't spent time uploading and typing I would have posted several minutes before you. As it is, it was almost at the same time.

In my link there are five animated tutorials giving a great amount of information. I doubt changing weapons power is among them, but others have done that exact thing. Do a search for 'Slightly Sub-Nuclear Torpedoes'.

WOW!

I jacked up the impulse from 2000 to 10000 and it suddenly got realistic. 1 torp under the keel at the fuel bunker stopped a C2 dead in her tracks. A second one set to impact in her hull blew her up. I have set up a single mission w/ the editor to do more testing to find a happy medium.

Found 'em, Steve. I didn't realize there were two zipped files in that download. THANX!

I think I've got the .sim and .zon values where I think they should be now. One well-aimed shot in the "red" vital area of a big ship and that baby is going down, especially if the sea is calm enough to use a magnetic pistol under the keel. Impact pistol may take an extra torp on the big ones.:)
