Hey everyone,

I've finally gotten a new rig that "should" be able to handle a relatively heavy modded SH III .

I am playing a purchased version of SH III from Amazon. It is the Download version and has no disc.

Part of the problem I am having is CTD just running GWX "mods" let alone some of the heavier ones like Merchant Fleet Mod.
I've uninstalled it but can not do so using the traditional "uninstall" by going to programs in Control Panel, because Ubisoft SH III does not appear there.

I just am deleting the SH III folder and all its contents.

I am also running SH 3 cleaner 4.0 to help make sure I am starting clean.

Any suggestions?

Please post your system specs, hardware and OS.

If your using windows 7 or 8, make sure sure that you didn't install sh3 to the default path in the programs folder.

An example of a correct path would be C:\ubisoft\sh3.

After you uninstall, you should also delete the SH3 folder in users/documents. It contains saved games, user settings etc., and can become corrupted.

{edit:} Add the mods one at a time (using JGSME!) and test them to see which combo causes the CTD. Many mods are incompatible with each other.

Try it with just the GWX mods enabled.

(I think your computer is more than adequate for SH3.)

Well unfortunately, it is being very temper mental at the moment. Sometime it will load with mods, after saving mission more than 50 km away from coastline, Others it crashes to desktop, after running fine a few minutes previously.

I've not been able to get any of the larger mods..

TMT v2
GWX 3 Willhelmshaven...
Merchant Fleet Mod

etc to load at all.

But I am trying to just start with the normal GWX Mods and see if I can complete a patrol with just them before I get a crash.

Also, just to help and clarify. I'm not attempting to run TMT, GWX 3Willhelmshaven, or Merchant Fleet Mod at the same time. I WOULD like to try and use Wilhelmshaven and either TMT v2 OR Merchant Fleet mod, if anyone knows if that is possible.

Has anyone had an instance where SH3 Commander has caused CTD?

I'm not suggesting "commander" is the problem, but trying to eliminate possibilities

I am assuming that you applied the official ubisoft 1.4b patch to SH3 before installing GWX 3.0.

Did you use the 4gb patch?

Yes, my SH III has been upgraded using the 4GB patch.

Make sure you follow all of the directions under (STEP BY STEP FOR VISTA).

Make sure your 1.4b patch is for the download version.

I'm hoping that a simple step was overlooked on install.:hmm2:

The download from Amazon is already patched to v1.4b.

I'm hoping that between trial and error and the help of all my great mates here on the forums, we can figure out the issue.

Well as I continue to try and get this working.

Here are some things I am doing to help my odds in the process.

I have deleted all files in my MODS folder and unzipping/compressing and adding a "freshly" unzipped file of the mod I wish to add using JSGME.

Still crashing every other time I start:
