How do I tell the difference between surface and air radar contacts?
I've just got surface search radar, and it's boss. However, I'm accustomed to crash-diving every time I get a radar contact because, until now, they were aircraft.
So, is there anyway to tell if my radar man is calling out a surface or air contact without having to confirm using the scope? |

1. Airplanes move faster than ships. If you have map contacts on, and the contact shows a speed of "very fast", it's a plane. 2. Remain on the surface. If your sub explodes and your game ends, it was a plane. I'd suggest method one. For some reason, the designers of this game must have figured you wouldn't care if the contact was an aircraft or ship. It's been annoying me for quite a while. |

Another way to tell is to go to the radar station. If it is a surface contact, it will show. If it is an air contact, it will not show. There is not an air radar station in the game.

use your head..... ranges from both radars are not the same. If it is farther, it's a plane....... or if it is a ship. Go to sona station, make a normal manual sweep (you do it). If it is a ship, your stack will hear it....
exploding is a nice option too xD :arrgh!: :salute: |

I normally just go to the radar station and look for myself ... that would be the easiest way to narrow the classification. The game is not scripted to understand the difference between ship and air craft when it comes to a radar sighting.
