AVG antivirus 2014 stops my game running
 

Due to xp being dropped this month my ms security essentials didnt work anymore so I uninstalled and chose the free security suite from AVG. Instant problems! It prevented SH3 from running altogether! It thought it was a virus or something. I had a fiddle with it but in the end I uninstalled AVG and all was good again.
I need help with 2 issues
Which is the best free antivirus that still works with xp?
Does it work with SH3?

Hey there Scott,
the issue is due to the h.sie patcher (which I am assuming you are using). As this injects the sh3 executable with code, it is falsely detected as a security threat.

You can still use AVG. Just take the following steps:
Open AVG Panel
Options -> Advanced Settings
Go to 'Exceptions Tab'
Click 'Add Exception'
Select File -> Browse for sh3.exe
Tick Any Location & Any Content
Click Ok
Apply
And you are good to go :)

After this, apply the h.sie patcher

You can use avira free antivir. It works with SH3 and Xp togehter without problems.

Thank you both. I will try out both to see which works best. Not at the same time though. That would cause a whole load of trouble.

I tried aarnomans solution which has worked fine. I prefer avg anyway as I already have it on my phone and tablet. Thankyou both anyway for taking the time to reply I appreciate it.
