Error with Hardcode fixes; hsie2.act?
Hi all,
I've installed everything in the hardcore fixes patch and supplement mod correctly as far as I can tell, however when I start it I get this error message, and it proceeds to load v1.4: Error loading hsie2.act Incompatible sh3.exe version found. hsie2.act not started. Patches not applied. The odd thing is, when I searched through the SH3 folder in my computer, there wasn't even a file by the name of "hsie2.act". There was hsie.act, but thats in the JSGME supplement mod folder for the patch, and I didn't modify it or anything. Any ideas? The only other referance to this issue I found in the forums was here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=3573) and no one ever answered his question. :o b34856 |
If you do not have a file named hsie2.act in your SH3 folder, then you did not install V16B1 properly. If you did, there would be a file by that name in the folder. I can't tell what is wrong based on the information you supply, but I can suggest a fix.
I suggest that you disable all mods, run SH3 to verify that you have not corrupted your stock Sh3 installation, then reinstall all mods except V16B1. Again run SH3 and verify that everything is working. Now go back and reread the installation instructions for V16B1. Either print them out or open a copy on your desktop. Follow the instructions carefully, step-by-step. Create the V16B1 Supplement folder, activate it, and it should work. Setting up h.sie's (and Stiebler's) patcher is not difficult. But it is not the same as setting up a JSGME-compatible mod. In fact, you have to create the JSGME-compatible mod folder yourself. You must follow the instructions exactly as written, or you will not get a usable result. Again, I can't tell what the problem was, but if you follow h.sie's instructions, everything will work. OSIF! You aren't using a Steam version of SH3, are you? Because, if you are, there is a different procedure you have to follow. Again, it isn't difficult, but it is different. Desertstriker has posted a tutorial on YouTube that tells how to install the patcher with the Steam version of SH3. Personally, I 'd recommend you spend another $10, get the publisher's version, and avoid future hassles. (The majority of SH345 modding problems posted on SubSim seem to involve a Steam version.) But that's up to you. |

Hello, and thanks for the reply! Luckily I do not have the Steam version of SH3.
I followed your advice and uninstalled the mod completely and reinstalled and followed the directions exactly, step by step, however I am still having the same issue. I swear that I am following the directions exactly, I cannot think of what I'm doing wrong, although it must be something  Attaches is a screenshot of the supplement mod folder, have I assembled it correctly? I can provide screenshots of other files or the menu text files and the campaign file if need be as well. |
I had the same problem until I went to Maiks serious SH3-Mod archive listed above in the SH3 Mods Workshop. Follow the link in the first post.
I scrolled down to Stiebler's mod section and downloaded Stiebler 4B V16B1 Revised7.z. Everything works great. |

I went to the mod archive and downloaded the file, however the Readmes say that you have to have HSIE's mod completely installed beforehand? |

Your Supplement to V16B1 folder looks OK. Everything that should be there is there. Could you post a screenshot of your game folder? |

I tried this, and now it just loads directly to v1.4 without the error message. Theres gotta be something wrong here, although I haven't the foggiest what it would be. :06: Quote:
There is also "Sound" "StateMachine.dll" "StateMachinCtl" and "Utils.dll" below where the screenshot covers. |
The sh3.exe in your game folder is timestamped 6/14/2005. It's definitely not the patched version, which should be timestamped 4/26/2014, since you patched it today. Please post a screenie of Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1. It should contain the patched version of sh3.exe with today's timestamp. If not, you did not put the right version of sh3.exe into the Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1 folder after you patched it.
You should have started with version 6/14/2005. Patched it with h.sie's V16B1 so it has the date 4/26/2014 (as your first screenie shows). Then patched THAT with Stiebler's patcher so that it also shows 4/26/2014 with a later timestamp. Then put that sh3.exe into the Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1 folder you assembled. Then installed that Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1 folder with JSGME. When done, the sh3.exe in your game folder should be timestamped with today's date and the same time as the version you created with Stiebler's patcher. I'm hoping you just have the wrong .exe file in the mod folder. |

EDIT:Aha! When I move the patched up exe straight to the main game folder, and run it from their (with both of the JSGME mod folders enabled, minus the exe of course) it loads up fine from v16B1. I will test here directly to see if both have worked. I wonder if it wasn't working from Win7 not letting me have permission to move the files? When I edited the .txt files needed for the patch I had to move them out, edit them, save it, and move it back in because it wouldn't let me save them in the main game folder. |
Manually swapping the patched sh3.exe for the stock file is the brute force way. It's not recommended because you no longer have the protection of a saved backup copy, which JSGME automatically provides. And it means that something is not working properly in your installation.
That said, manual installation works for you! Hurrah! Make sure you make a copy of sh3.exe, version of 6/14/2005, and secure that copy well. Then you can enjoy the game, with h.sie's and Stiebler's excellent patches. If you want to pursue the problem further (and I would recommend that you do), do you have administrator privileges for the user account the game is running under? If not, that may be the root of your problem. Trying to mod SH345 when running in a non-administrator account can result in the UAC software blocking your mods. |
I have backed up the old and kept it in a safe place so I should be alright.
