PT-Boat veteran passes
One of our founding members Dick Lowe, of Save the PT-Boat passed away last week. He was buried yesterday with full military honors.

He was on the forward 30mm gun when the boat was hit and was catapulted into the air. Dick also had a confirmed torpedo hit on a Japanese destroyer at the Battle of Surigao Strait. http://www.navsource.org/archives/12/120532328.jpg http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/...mg/PT-p395.jpg :salute: Thank you for your heroic service Dick!!! |

Sincere condolences to his friends and family.
With the utmost respect. |
They're great guys to talk to.. so many stories and adventures.
A grand old 'friend' of ours died 2 years ago (90), lied about his age, was taken POW at Tobruk a few years later, escaped 3x but never got back. His eyes always lit up when I talked about the 'dancing girls' :D The wife and his 'partner' eyed us out suspiciously..:salute: Yes.. long thoughts for them.... |
Rest in Peace Richard.
Thank you for your service. :salute: |
Ah, this is what I wanted to post.
http://www.savetheptboatinc.com/last_patrol.htm They must have been updating the website at the time I wanted to reference it. |
It's so sad to see the Civic Generation pass on. Their Can-do attitudes transformed our country from a failing agricultural experiment into a world mover and shaker. We'll miss such perseverance and resolve.
