Firefighters were cheesed off when they were called to put out a kitchen fire because someone had tried to grill cheese on toast by flipping a toaster on its side.

I reckon toasters should have a cut off facility that acts when the device is knocked over....my space heater has.

That would work only until some clown discovers that duct tape would stick the plunger down and bypass the safety feature.

As my firefighter and police officer friends would say, "job security."
Truth is, that's not even the dumbest thing I've seen.

And I like "twonk," I think I'll make it my word of the day.

I've occasionally knocked mine as I've walkwd past it and the trembler mechanism actually works so that is a little gratifying.

Mental note if in Jim's kitchen wear safety boots to avoid low flying toasters. :)

Has it come to the point the manufacturer has to put in their info leaflet do not place your toaster on the side? Looks like a yes to me. :arrgh!:

There is already a warning not to use a toaster near water, like in the bathroom. Same for an electric hair dryer.

That's because if they are left on their side water could get in :O:

Add to info...No peeing into toaster result of such a act would be shocking to you.
