Europe 24
This data visualization of Air Traffic in Europe was created from real flight data. It shows the air traffic which flies on a typical summer day and highlights the intensity of the operation in Europe - an operation which runs 24x7x365.
NATS and the UK are at the heart of the operation. With Heathrow as the busiest international airport in Europe, and Gatwick as the busiest single runway airport in the world, we play a key role in ensuring air traffic under our control in European airspace is as safe and efficient as it can be. http://vimeo.com/88093956 Cool vid.:) |
Thanks for posting G. :yeah:
And thanks for your input Tchocky. Quite interesting trying to spot regional airfields from the odd flight in or out, and occasionally you'll spot one squiggle simply circling again and again. |
Thanks for posting.
One question, Isn't Heathrow the busiest in the world, not just Europe? |

The definition of the world's busiest airport has been specified by the Airports Council International in Geneva, Switzerland. The ACI defines and measures the following three types of airport traffic:
The following airports make claims based on objective volume measures that are defined above: Largest number of passengers annually (1998–present); Most aircraft movements annually (1999–2000, 2005–present); In 2007, Hartsfield again set the world's record for most aircraft movements in one year with 994,346. Most cargo traffic by weight annually (2010-present).

Nice
At around fifty seconds in you can see the RAF exercise area off Anglesey, little bit of dogfighting going on out of RAF Valley! Here's quite an old video highlighting the traffic on a typical day where I work. Not quite as fancy as the NATS video :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK-Y1ZyrWHs |
