Gutted fire station had no sprinklers

Hard to believe but true

A Norfolk fire station gutted in a blaze that destroyed a fire engine, was not fitted with sprinklers or alarms.

Norfolk's deputy chief fire officer Roy Harold accepted the service should have followed its own advice.

That is just unbelievable. If it was not so wrong for the negligence and waste of valuable equipment it would be amusing for the irony. :Kaleun_Mad:

That's why they're called FIRE stations.:haha:
To say that they didn't have sprinklers is clearly a misquote... the sprinklers were on the truck.:know:

If that's not a facepalm moment I've no idea what is!

When the new fire station in Celle was completed in 2013, they found out there was no water supply, for filling up the trucks.
(but at least the toilets were in working order)

Would the local government have paid for retrofitting sprinklers in the fire station?

When I started firefighting, none of the stations had sprinklers. Code didn't require them, and still don't. We thought it was kind of hypocritical. Before I retired, we started putting sprinklers in the new buildings. Even the kitchens, only the larger stations have the commercial style hood systems. Platapus, the local government, even if asked, probably wouldn't pay to retrofit the station. gordonmull, I fully agree. Wolferz, :har:
