Volume increase?
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=4246
Love the sound of this mod! But its to bloody quiet I can barely hear the diesel would be awesome if I could get some help in increasing the sound volume of those .wavs I have tried Power Sound Editor with no luck saves out of game go into game its still the same. Ideas tips anything would be awesome. Sorry I am new to this whole modding and editing files on my own etc. :Kaleun_Periskop: |
I checked that one out, he added diesel idling sound to Submarine waves lap.wav so you hear rumbling when not moving, but he failed to reduce volume in the Vapor Siaj.wav file so it's still "white noise" hissing that overpowers the diesel sound.
Reminder, you are checking the file settings when you first open it, right? https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...26666138_n.jpg Get in the habit of looking at the original settings and compare them to what this says when you save the file, if they don't match click the configure button and change the settings before clicking OK. |
Thanks
You may have a dif version then I do I will full screen the app to see if it shows at the end. I am using Poul-Sound mod now and it adds a lot of realistic wave sounds like in a storm the beating against the hull but of course I can't here the diesel because its to low I will try and reducing that one file and see if it helps.
I would Donate more to Subsim if someone would build a killer Engine Sound mod  In a heartbeat. :Kaleun_Salute: |
Look around or look at the help file, all sound editors have someplace where they tell you if it's 8 bit or 16 bit or whatever, along with the frequency and stereo or mono. That last should be obvious, every sound editor I've ever seen had a single waveform for mono and a split screen for stereo.
Got a video of the beginning of a career mod I'm working on, some places you can hear the engine sound. Although I'm troubleshooting an unwanted sound loop in one of the creaking noise files so I replaced all the sound files except the two for the engine to test it, which brought them godawful screeching seagulls back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig8i3SSVwoM Your questions got me interested, so I replaced the amplified stock SH-4 diesel sound with an Alco locomotive sound I stole from a train simulator and cranked that up. Once I get that tweaked I intend to upload it. :salute: |
Awesome!
You get that engine sound good and loud where is it sounds like you got some power under you when you flank and let me get a link to download it. I will donate 20$ to Subsim. But Sniper make it sweet. I think you kinda know what I am looking for I want my subwoofer to rumble when I slam it to flank. :yeah:
I did find the spot where it tells me the format. Had to fullscreen the software. I have been just using that one I showed you. On a calm day you can here it okish. But any wind or rough water forget it. Well off to bed for me I just called in a air strike on a convoy then ate the merchants. Then took out a small merchant with the deck gun in a Gail force storm. couldnt see him till I was maybe 300yards away. Manual radar for the win.:O: :subsim: I like the Vid to!! |
Quick Windows tip;
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...38206610_n.jpg Open the Windows sound control, click the advanced button and you can adjust your bass and treble balance levels. Slide the bass all the way to the right and set off earthquake monitors. |
Thought about that.... But....
I run my sound through optical on the plasma tv with a sound bar set up. So I am not sure those setting would have effect they may. Let me play around with that.
PS Don't give up on a Engine sound pack for me please!!! :subsim: |
NO SURRENDER!
Hey I never give up, my generation WON the cold war!
https://scontent-a-atl.xx.fbcdn.net/...97130156_n.jpg The diesel noise is about ready to go, I'm pretty sure I got it as loud as possible without pronounced hissing. Latest is in the first minute of this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf_lz6wUKFU Still got testing and tweaking on the hull noises, but the Alco rumble should be up within the week. :salute: |
Sounding good!
You can at least hear the engine. I am betting its gonna sound different on individual pc's. But its a lot better then what we have atm. There are some mods out there that sound good but come with horrible editions. ROW Sound effects has a killer engine sound but his bad weather spray sound is wayyyyy to loud drives me crazy and a few other odd sounds but over all cool mod. TMO has a engine pack that sounds decent. The one I am using now its got a true sound to it but I cant get it high enough without the game saying no and ctding. I am curious to see how the polished mod turns out!! Put it in some bad weather and see if you can hear it then to. Did you add an idle loop at all stop?
Keep up the good work Sir!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tipIQ2aYqS8 4 off these bad boys running at flank would make a rumble. Not exact model but very close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae3G8z5isxs thats just number 4 running  :subsim: |
Yeah, I got two sets of stereo headphones, the cheap one makes the noise loudest when you're facing aft just like the speakers (My youngest son and I live in a very small house so both computers, the NES, and TV are in the living room. So I wear a headset when he's home, unplug it and crank the speakers when he's out. Usually have to pry his cat off the ceiling when I overdo it.) but the expensive set has some kind of noise canceling gadget - useless for games that use programming to emulate stereo from a mono WAV file. The expensive one nulls out the engine sound completely if the camera faces directly forward or directly aft. Works fine on the cheap headset or the stereo desktop speakers with the additional woofer though.

Just took a squint at your video - 10 years is nothing, try 25 years.

The acoustics are different
The sound from coming inside a sub versus coming from just a bit of medal is where you get your difference. Both have good sound to them but that Number 4 only running on that Gato sub vid is good!! thats true sound there. Curious to see how this turns out!!!!!!!!!

I cranked the volume
On your tube vid it does have a good deep throat tone to it. I bet its gonna be sweet. You should also work with that gato vid sound to see what you get out of it. Well time to sink some ships!!!:yeah:

We must be here, we're out of gas!

For anyone browsing this later, Data\Sound folder; A:Submarine_diesel_exterior.wav B:Vapor Siaj.wav C:Submarine waves lap.wav A is the actual diesel sound, unfortunately the one and only for all subs ingame, from Sugar boat to Balao. B is the wake - bow wave - spray noise which gets louder the faster you go. C is the splashing water when the boat is stopped and the diesels are stopped. I haven't done any real testing on it but when you order All Stop the diesel sound quits so all you hear is the spray, then it changes to the wave lapping sound around 10 knots. So the trick is to reduce the volume of the spray so it don't drown out the diesels, and increase the volume and preferably increase the bass. Mine is actually an Alco diesel locomotive WAV with the volume cranked up, to me it sounds better than the Fairbanks-Morse or Winton. |
