Really stupid question but.....

Why is Silent Hunter 5 only selling for under $10 on Amazon?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PAIPQO?...m%2Fstore.html
I can remember paying around $40.00 when I bought SH4.
It's still selling on Amazon for $60.00.
I have to be missing something. :hmmm:

It is possible it could be a special. I know that steam does that on occasions.

Simple, no one is buying SH5. I've seen this elsewhere as well.

Also true. It is a shame because it could have been a great game but it was full of bugs and seemed like it was rushed out the door.

It was rushed out the door. UBI wanted the money as fast as they could get from us, from what I see. So they said it's done enough sell it as is. Once UBI's Patch 1.2 was handed to us after all the flak they got, our illustrious mod makers fixed it so it's playable. Unfortunately it's the same with every game they've made that I've bought.

Stop buying a Download (although the link you have for Amazon has it as a DVD for $8.50 plus shipping). Get the DVD edition for half the price of either Steam or Amazon or Gamersgate!

iNetVideo has it for $2.00, plus $2.50 shipping and handling. Yep, the shipping is more than the DVD game!!

Got mine in 5 shipping days from order. That's coming from Canada, going through Customs, using U.S. Snail Mail to get it here. From what I can tell the shipping address is the same as UbiSoft Canada Headquarters.

As my instructors always used to say, "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people" ;0)-. This is pretty standard for most games....within 8-12 months (sometimes longer) of release the price drops dramatically to move the product off the shelves.

You NEED to buy the DVD version of the game to properly MOD it. This is not debatable. The Steam (read download) version of the game can't MOD the exe files (or so i'm told). SH5 is not playable without MODS (thank you UBIsoft).

good to know. thanks.
Even though my system can't run SH5 enough to get the superior graphics for that price I'll pick up the DVD version anyway so I'll have to MOD out when I upgrade.
My son and I are talking about building a new home system that we can run off the new 40" flat screen we just bought for the master bedroom using the HDMI port on my laptop.
:hmmm: New carpet in the living room (says wife)
or new system to run SH5?

Silent Hunter 5 is on sale at Amazon UK for between £1.70 + £2 postage to £5.42 post paid.

The German version however will cost you over £13 is that a rip off?

A game this old would be a rip off with a high price on it.

Personally I am all for the cheap pricing.

This kind of pricing will bring people in to the game that probably may have never played a game before.
