So the coroner makes a mistake... a pretty serious one. Through luck, no one actually died.
And the coroner calls it a "miracle". :nope:
I would call it "time to get another coroner" :yep:
It is still a shame that in too many states a Coroner does not need to be a doctor. The qualifications to be a "Coroner" in Mississippi?
- Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Be a qualified elector of the county in which elected
- Attend the Mississippi Crime Laboratory and State Medical Examiner Death Investigation Training School, successfully completing all exams on the subject matter presented
To be a chief medical examiner investigator (CMEI), in Mississippi, you don't need any other qualifications. That's pretty sad. :nope:
At least Mississippi is better than Indiana. In 2007 in Indiana, a 17 year old high school senior passed the required coroner examination and was appointed a deputy coroner. :doh:
