I bit off more than I can chew...
Hey guys,
I kinda messed up. Completely new to the game, but wanted to make it a little more realistic, as the base game (played through a mission or 2) felt a little silly in regards to firing torps....very much a point and click experience. This is my current mod list, and order: Code:
sobers game loading tips V8 SH5 What I didn't want though, was the realistic navigation in map mode stuff, at present I cannot for the life of me even figure out where I am on the map! So, to go back to a more "Default" form of navigation, I assume I just need to disable "NewUIs_TDC_7_5_0_Real_Navigation"? Is that correct, or in that list of mods, do I have other mods that are dependancies of Real Navigation and can also be now safely removed? Other than that, is there any glaring omissions there, that I should consider adding? Thanks for the help! |
Might not be the answer you're looking for but.....
Real Nav is very very simple. You are basically letting your crew do the work for you and they will even plot your estimated position. Using the autoscripts, it will place an estimated mark on your nav map every 2 hours. So basically you really dont do any actual "real" Nav.... you just don't see a "GPS" style moving map with your exact position. It does induce some error into the plot tho so your position is not exact....but close enough (think Nuclear blast), which is all you need. I'd try it out a bit as it at least adds something else to think about with the game. :sunny:
Having said that, I've had a hell of a time with MODs and trying to "get the right order". Once you start that process of Moding the Mods after you have already Modded .... things can get messy if you don't really know what you are doing. I ended up having to reinstall a clean game several times. |

Thanks guys, and hello to all!
I tried the Real Navigation for a short while again this morning but just couldn't get my head around it, I'll shelve that one for the next play-through. What range are you supposed to be able to see ships at night with binoculars / periscope? I was apparently within 7000m of a ship, so I thought I'd have a look, but couldnt see it for the life of me, it was pitch black! Is that normal? Do I just need to get closer? A lot of ships seem to outrun me, quite considerably! Edit: Just remembered I was watching a Youtube video, and the guy playing was able to set his precice desired depth on a slider, is that standard functionality (if so how do I do that) or is it a mod? |
