The Subsim Cheer-Up Thread

Monday blues? Life getting you down? We all need to let our hair down every now and then (except Neal, who has my haircut, but inside out) so why not post a few things that always cheer you up in this thread and spread the cheer?

I'll begin with a classic:

Bout time we got one of these :)

MUSIC!

I could go on forever about music....but instead, I'll just put up a few specifics.

20th Century Masters Millennium Collection - Louis Armstrong

The Beach Boys: 20 Good Vibrations: The Greatest Hits Vol. 1

Music between the late 30s and early 70s can cheer you right up sometimes. It also seems there was a lot of depressing music in the 70s onward....not saying that's bad but I do hear a lot of it.

Also,

e-dubble - Be A King

Smash Mouth - All Star A lot of their music is good

Eric Paslay - Friday Night

Kenny Chesney - Pirate Flag

Toby Keith (ft. Willie Nelson) - Beer For My Horses

____

However, I've found that the best way to cheer up is to talk to somebody who has been through what you're going through. Or somebody you can talk to about anything.

This one always makes me chuckle. Spike Jone - Der Führer's Face

Music can cheer a person up of course it can also annoy the living crap out of someone if the music they hear is not to their tastes.

That is why I always like Monty Python because it does not annoy me.

Honestly if I am feeling down the best thing is being outdoors in total "silence" with not one irritating man made sound to be heard. If I cant be in a place like that I zen myself there.

Still trying to come to terms with retirement but broadly speaking I'm a creature of habit. Once esconced in the man cave I usually find myself checking out the forum here whilst playing music from a multitude of artists I like.

In addition I maintain regular contact with a select group of friends via Skype and occasionally view, reposition and dust my ever growing collection of Brit post WWII diecast that are housed in six cabinets opposite my computer station.

A couple of shots from my SAR section:

Look up

Folks, take a walk and look around you. Most folks, when feeling blue, stare at the ground.

I take a walk in the nearby woods and let my eyes wander up, up, over there. I'm soon not thinking about the problems, only enjoying the sights.

I pull out my guitar and play a few old favorites. :sunny:

I like to take my Geo Tracker to the off road trail after a rough day at work(when it's not sub-arctic temps) There's nothing like a cold beer surrounded by nothing but trees for miles :D.

I guess you you could take the song that way if you like guns.

That song is basically about an acid trip that Lennon had the name was based on the cover of a gun magazine that someone had showed Lennon though.More of a sexual metaphor "I've got my finger on your trigger"(a man talking to a woman) means uh well not family friendly but it does not take much thinking to figure what else might be a trigger metaphorically that is part of the female anatomy.

I go for a walk around the village, or a blast on my bike. I'm never usually stressed though, not stressy stressed anyway.
