Oh no! oh no! oh nooo! (RIP WinXP...or not?)

Microsoft is about to take Windows XP off life support :wah::wah::wah::wah:

Didn't we address that here? :)

Should run a poll, see who is on what. Just for fun info.

All work computers are on Windows 7. All home computers are on Windows XP. The home ones are in need of an upgrade sometime this year, I'll most likely
switch to 7 then, it is good until 2020 :yep:

I still run it on two home systems and my work laptop still runs it. I'm using Win7 on my main home PC but this is terrible news. I suppose Win7 will follow in short order as this is about the evil cloud and speaks to the end of local control.

I suppose I could try to upgrade my computer to something newer, but even if it worked it's a lot of money to spend on a machine I'm trying to replace anyway. :dead:

My thoughts as well. I'll upgrade when I get a new computer.

You should both be good for a few years yet...I still regret going over to W7 but that was my only choice at the time when I purchased a new system.

Win 7 seems to be more popular than 8 from what I have heard and seen. The lesser of two evils I guess.

Edit: Anyone have much success with Windows XP Mode? I have a bit of experience with it at work but not anything game related. Also you need
Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate to run it. We have Pro here.

I run Vista, W7 and W8. The W8 computer is set up to look like W7. Can't tell the difference honestly. When I look at XP it seems ancient.

I have some 16bit software I still use that was quite pricey in it's day and still serves me well. I tried running them in Win7 legacy mode but they don't work. I suppose I'll just have to move files by memory stick and cut the PC's off the network.

The only thing I dislike about the old Xp machine is because I don't use it more than once a month and have to let it update for awhile before getting down to business.
