Help after applying Generic Patches

I applied the patches to my boat while in the harbor.

I jumped in to get a new mission and the mission icons are missing from the world map. (no mods applied as of yet...testing one step at a time)

Is there anything I have to do to make the executable usable after patching?

Thanks

Meaning you had the game minimized, and then applied patcher with game running in background? Or returned to bunker and exited game?

Move original files that are to be patched to another location. Copy patched files to the SH5 root folder. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=205620

Mike.. you can't run the game and the patcher at the same time..

No, no, no. My boat was docked in the bunker and the game was shut down.
I ran the patcher...if the game was running it wouldn't be able to open these files.

After the patch was done I ran the game and asked for a mission. The world map came up but there were no icons for getting a mission. This is usually an indicator that UBI thinks the exe is corrupt or I hacked the executable. (no stupid comments please)

So do I have to go offline before executing the game or do I have to double click the exe to start the game or what???

Problem solved. Even though I have the latest build of the patcher ... I disabled the orbital listeners patches and disabled any of the render patches and I got my missions back.

On to the mods!!!

This stuff has been talked about in the thread below, probably other threads which IIRC:
[TEC] SH5.exe patches to fix bugs and add functionality

At the bottom of post #1 for above is:
How to use the patcher app:

Opening many "+" during the patch process, explains what file changes and what is effected.
