SH3 and GWX
 

Is it possible to have one install of SH3 with [just an example] SH3 Commander or what ever and have a separate install just for GWX Gold?

SH3 Commander is not a mod. It is a standalone programm that works outside SH3 and it gives you may options to customize your game.
That means you can run it with virtually any Sh3 installation

For multiple SH3 intallations use MultiSH3. It is here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1869

Just follow the instructions.

I have a stock version of SH3 installed, another with GWX and SH3Commander and another with just GWX for testing various mods to see if I like them before using them in my main GWX installation. Just be sure to do what VONHARRIS suggested. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm reasonably certain that you can have multiple installs for SH3Commander too if so inclined. Probably just do a copy and paste wherever you like.

Probably the best way is to have a separate installation of Commander for each game installation.
