SH3 Commander Questions!
I know this is most likely beating a dead horse, but I can't find any threads concerning this matter.
I'm trying to find historical parameters to set for my deck gun reloading times. What do you all suggest I set for minimums for the 88 and 105mm? Also, I had posted another thread but it seemed to die off without getting an answer. Does anybody know how to get the flag chart back in periscope view when using GWX3+Hitman's Optics? Thanks! |

I can only help you with the flag part. You need to make sure "flaggen" tga is in your data , gui, layout folder and then make sure the text block is in your menu 1024_768 file This is what it looks like in mine but this is for the UZO as that's where I wanted it but it is the same principle for the periscope too. This allows me to "pulldown" the flag map from the top left hand corner of UZO screen to view flags against ship in view [G28 I176] Name=Target;Neuer Eintrag für Flaggen Type=1031;Stat bmp array ItemID=0x28030001 ParentID=0x28030000 Pos=-1680,745,1024,768 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/Menu/Gui/Layout/Flaggen.tga Crop 0=0,0,1,1 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x9 Drag=true BmpState=1 NeedFocus=true SelOne=true IdGroup=0 StatesColors=0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFF hope this helps you John |

The game doesn't take any of that into account. It shoots quickly and accurately in any sea state, right up to the point where it suddenly shuts down the gun. Big problem with reality. I set my 8.8cm gun to 12 seconds and the 10.5cm gun to 15 seconds. That's boringly slow on a flat, calm day, but much faster than they could shoot in bad weather. It's a compromise, sure, but it feels right to me. Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but I'm always fixated on getting the whole story out. |

This is the last code block that I have, but when I try to enter in the new information line by line, it gets all funky and throws the code all over the page? :hmmm: This is my last code block. [G28 I175] Name=Dial Type=1031;Stat bmp array ItemID=0x2816D002 ParentID=0x2816D000 Pos=7,-8,46,46 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=0;No stretch Mat 0=data/menu/gui/TDC/TDC1.tga Crop 0=0.320313,0.0351563,1,1 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x9 Drag=false BmpState=1 NeedFocus=true SelOne=false IdGroup=0 StatesColors=0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFF ToolTipText=2246 I wonder why Hitman's optics removed this flag chart? :nope: |

Ok, so just enter my block of text after the last one for your UZO, it should be G28 I176, if your last one is I175 and there should be a single line gap between the two blocks as in all other ones you see in the text file. copy and paste and remember to back up the original first to another folder for safekeeping in case it goes pear shaped, which it shouldnt do. You should have your last one PLUS this one as well Make sure you have the flaggen tga picture in your layout folder or it wont work. I asked hit man about that too and he said it wa just removed as it wasnt deemed necessary..if memory serves me well...but it is easy to replace it just follow my instructions and it will be in the top left hand corner of the uzo screen...a little difficult to see buit move the cursor there and click and drag it down in the same way you do the konvoy map etc in the nav screen John |

I looked around and saw the "good crews could fire 15-18 rounds per minute, or one every 3-5 seconds." This did not specify whether these numbers were test firing under controlled conditions, or if these were combat specs. I know that during my Army days I was told by an artilleryman that a 105mm light, towed field piece rate of fire was: Maximum: 8 rpm for 3 minutes Sustained: 3 rpm for 30 minutes So you could rapid fire a shot every 7.5 seconds, but after 3 minutes the gun had to cool down or you would risk damage or breach failure (not a good thing, as it's obvious what happens during breach failure). 3rpm is a shot every 20 seconds. Now these are Army specs for land pieces on stable ground. But either way, we see a combat reload time of 7.5-20 seconds, and this is with a stable gun platform. So I don't know where these people are coming up with a shot every 3-4 seconds. The gun would blow up from overheating IF the crew could even keep this rate of fire up. I'll use the template of 8 for the 88mm, and 12 for the 105mm and go from there I suppose, unless somebody has a more realistic parameter setting. |

As I said thats for the UZO as I use it there, for periscopes just find your periscope last block of text and paste that in , obviously using the correct G and I text and it should be fine. Try that in your UZO first to see if it worked and if you like it. The periscopes are blocks 25 and 26 I think, so make sure you are in last block and then create a new one using my block to suit the G26 Ixx and so on.... John |

Sweet Glad to be of help. Now I suggest you look up the following mods which are in the same style of adding pulldowns to screens. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=4036 http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3675 Second one is excellent and explains in detail how to add pulldowns to all the screens in the game...worth a download just for the readme file First one is mine and adds pulldown maps to the radio room to allow you to view grids when messages come in...will help you understand how pulldowns work John |

Menu ID not found: 0x28030000 The game still loads and plays alright, but now I'm just getting this annoying warning :/\\!! EDIT: I did not roll back SH3 Commander and disable Hitman's Optics through JSGME before adding the flag sheet code GAH! Could this have been the error? Because when I rolled back SH3, and then disabled/enabled hitman's optics again through JSGME, GWX3 loaded perfectly with no warnings? However, I replaced the backup file that did not contain the flags this time just to play it safe. I'll just print out a flag sheet and laminate it and be done with it! Thanks for your help though John, you helped me at least understand coding a little better! |

That menu error is a missing line of text or block of text that you left out or deleted or changed in some way, that's why I suggested you back up your original file at the beginning.... I know this from past disasters . You did it right first time... Just take your time and you will manage to do it, trust me, take your time and make sure you have all the data blocks and the tag file to match it and all will be well. Check out the two links I gave you and you will see how easy it is, John :salute: |
