Woman suicide bomber kills at least 14 at Russian station

Quote:

(Reuters) - A female suicide bomber blew herself up in the entrance hall of a Russian train station on Sunday, killing at least 14 people in the second deadly attack within three days as the country prepares to host the Winter Olympics.

The bomber detonated her explosives in front of a metal detector just inside the main entrance of Volgograd station. Footage shown on TV showed a massive orange fireball filling the stately colonnaded hall and smoke billowing out through shattered windows.
Escalating spiral of violence, these suicide bombings, a worrying development in the community :shifty:

This is just terrible. A few days ago, these 14 people most likely spend Christmas with their loved ones, now they are blown to bits, 14 families destroyed...

Friggin sick planet. :nope:

This is the second suicide attack in Volgograd. Last time it was a bus.

That problem is much older than the article implies.

Nearest city area to Dagestan and Chechnya IIRC, so whilst unfortunate, not particularly surprising.

Well there is one but I doubt it is acceptable. Would require a couple of loose nukes and the wind in the right direction.

Or we could send Skybird. But seriously where do these people get off. I just don't comprehend.

Shock and awe is a tactic that gets the required media coverage, political dialogue doesn't have the same ring to it does it. God knows what the Russian government will do to the instigators of these crimes, me thinks they won't be giving them tea and biscuits.

The eyes of the world on currently on Russia because of the forthcoming winter olympics amongst other things and the bombers are making as much use of that as possible.

Sadly, I can only see matters escalating further.

It is.

We know too well about those railway station terrorist attacks, about those who plan and foment them, and those who carry out such actions. Terrorism acts very well known in Italy, inter alia.

They could also be sent on a nice long visit to Chernobyl.

Sad that the city-hero of Stalingrad (Volgograd) to do such things. We have not forgiven it fascists and terrorists do not forgive.
