Noob Mod-Starting-Question

Hi Kaleuns! :salute:

A quite noobish question: I have loaded the Monsun-Mod with the Generic Mod Enabler. But when I start SH4 now, it's simply the normal Pacific War Intro with the US campaign (and the Wolfes of the Pacific Missions). How can I get the Mods in the Generic Enabler started?

Thanks a lot!

Do you have U-boat Missions?

I believe Op Monsun is only compatible with version 1.5.

Yes, Sir, I have SH4 Gold (it's with the U-Boat-Missions). And it's version 1.5. The Enabler seems to have worked (screenshot attached). But what now? If I start SH4 as usual, I only get the same SH4 like before :/\\!!

Welcome aboard Cfant! :salute:

There are two things you need to check.
For the mods to work, sh4 can't be in the "programs x86" directory. There is something about it that prevents the mods from working. You can re-install sh4 in its own directory or as a sub-directory under something like "games." Then the mod should work.
Check your directory structure. Sometimes, when unpacking the compressed file, it will go into a double directory (opmonsun/opmonsun/file). If that happens, then the mod won't be recognized and the changes won't be made. Fix this and the mod will be recognized.

And be sure to clean up your mess when you're through. Then you can clean up Armistead and Wolferz's mess. :D

Thanks a lot, Commodores! :) Allied spy network still prevents my UBoot from starting, but I'm still working on it and try out your tipps

fireftr18 added my first thought. When mods are unpacked from the zip file it puts the mod folder itself in a folder of the same name so like he said you have a double directory when only the one will allow the mod to work. GME is looking for the mod in the first folder but it is in the second.

It is always advisable with todays operating systems no matter what program your running to never install them on your system drive. That is Computer best practices 101.

Well Sir, I tried.

In fact, the mod unzipped into "Silent Hunter 4 Gold/MODS/Operation Mosun 705/Operation Monsun 705/DATA"

So I copied the folder DATA, so that now it's to be found in "Silent Hunter 4 Gold/MODS/Operation Monsun 705/DATA"

Still it doesn't work. If I start the game, I can only start Uboot-Campaigns from 1943 and 1944, but no 1939-campaign :nope:
Life is hard an unfair, I guess :wah:

Do you have a separate hard drive? If so uninstall the game as below and install it to the seperate hard drive.

If not uninstall the game and remove all the mods from JSGME

Reboot

Reinstall the game in c:\Silent Hunter.

Reboot

Download the following mods:

OpsMonsun_V705
OMv705_to_V720
OMv720_Patch5

Install the above mods correctly in the mod folder. Make sure they are not double foldered. Once you know they are not double foldered activate them in the above order one at a time.

Reboot.

Play the game.

=================================

For added enjoyment using the Uboats I suggest the following mods:

OMEGU_v300
OMEGU_v300_Patch7
OM_Harder_Escort_L2
UBM Missions
Popular German Music From The 30´s
OM_Pac_Env

=================================

Make sure that OMEGU also includes it's patch. If you ad the mods make sure the order of your mods are as follows before adding any other mod.

Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
OpsMonsun_V705
OMv705_to_V720
OMv720_Patch5
OMEGU_v300
OMEGU_v300_Patch7

What merc4ulfate said is most likely your problem.

Best to get the game installed in a folder directly in the root of the C: drive rather than the program files folder as well as verifying each mod is located in the correct folder before running JSGME.

Cfant 12-31-13 02:24 AM

Thanks. But I already reinstalled it into c:/sh4 Gold Edition, but still it's not as it should be :( Bad luck, I guess...

merc4ulfate 12-31-13 10:55 AM

Open GME

Click "TASKS"

Click "Exported activated mods list to"

Click "Clipboard"

Reply to post and click paste.

Also where is the JSGME located?

Make sure you have correctly install JSGME. Us ethis link to verify and I always use option 2 when installing it.
