Hard to believe it was twenty five years ago :nope:

I was 22 at the time, just entering my adult life. This marked the loss of innocence for me. This comes to mind from time to time.
Along with the obvious pain felt by families who lost their loved ones to a random criminal act, I can't help but thinking of the terror felt on board, if anyone survived the initial explosion. Despicable, pointless, unnecessary, unfair. |
I know a chap who was on duty in Shanwick ATC that night, see it going down. Get chills when he tells the story.

It was a terrible ten months, firstly the disaster at Clapham Junction, then Lockerbie, then Kegworth, then Purley and then Hillsborough.

It looks like the relatives of the convicted bomber Megrahi are considering an appeal.

However, and as I have myself been in the past unjustly accused of wrongdoing (although nothing serious), I cannot be indifferent to a man that goes to his grave claiming to be innocent of a crime he's been accused of and found guilty. On the other hand, I was never a LEO. Your professional experience puts you in a far better position to form an educated opinion. |
