If it's real, I hope they can get this guy what he needs. I don't have the power, or I would.

However, I know there's a lot of fakes out there. So I'm a little skeptical. I'm all about helping veterans and thanking them...but when I see it on the internet, a red flag goes up in my mind. This one looks to be legit though.

If this was legit I think they could easily have found an outlet in the general news. My Spidey Sense is tingling.....

They're asking for greeting cards, not money. No harm in sending one.

Agreed and if anyone can send the gentleman one in my name I'd gladly reimburse via Paypal or donate the cost to SubSim.

You don't have the power to send a Christmas card or even just a note thanking him for his service? The old guy needs cheering up, not your money.

And BTW the Honor Flight organization is a well respected non-profit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_Flight

Quote:

An Honor Flight is conducted by non-profit organizations dedicated to transporting as many United States military veterans as possible to see the memorials of the respective war(s) they fought in Washington, D.C. at no cost to the veterans. Currently these organizations are focused on bringing veterans of World War II to the National World War II Memorial, and any veteran with a terminal illness to see the memorial of the war they fought in.

Thanks for the clarification about the legitimacy, August!

Too late to send out a Christmas card from here, but I hope the gentleman appreciates a new year's card from abroad.

I think he will a lot.

Ok, will be late but no harm in a card coming two or three days later :yep:

Bingo. No return address needed as well.

Took me longer to take the photo and upload it to Photobucket than writing out the card. It will be in the mail today!

I can't send one...meaning...I don't have money for it.

I really would like to thank him for his service...but certain things cost money...and money is very very very tight for me now that I have to pay for my own gas.

Until I get a job, I have no income.

A stamp is just 48 cents but,...whatever.
